Zionsville hires Indiana Hall of Famer Jennifer Drudge as girls basketball coach

The Zionsville Community School Board of Trustees has approved the hiring of Jennifer Drudge as Zionsville girls basketball coach. The former Rushville High School and Butler University standout joins the Eagles by way of Carmel, where she coached for 14 years.

Drudge replaces Andy Maguire, who stepped down last month.

“I am thrilled to be joining Zionsville and the Zionsville girls basketball program,” Drudge said in a statement. “Educational-based athletics provides us an opportunity to positively impact student-athletes on a daily basis and to establish confidence that will carry them well beyond high school and sports. It is an honor to follow Coach Maguire and to build upon the foundation that he and his staff established. We look forward to building upon that foundation and establishing traditions that will carry us into the future.”

A 2023 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Drudge was an Indiana All-Star at Rushville, where she averaged over 20 points per game as a senior and graduated with 1,306 points. She went on to enjoy a dazzling career at Butler, where she ranks fifth on the all-time scoring list, holds the single-season and career records for 3-point field goal shooting, and is also among the leaders for assists, 3-pointers, free throws and free throw shooting.

Drudge was head coach at Carmel from 2001-04 and had two stints as an assistant: 2000-01 and 2009-13.

“We could not be more excited to add Jen Drudge to the ZCHS community,” Zionsville athletic director Greg Schellhase said. “Jen brings a passion for teaching and coaching and an exceptional ability to build strong connections and relationships. She is a proven educator, and I am very confident that she will provide outstanding leadership that will help continue to move our program forward. With Jen’s impressive coaching background and dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment, we are confident that coach Drudge will motivate and inspire our student-athletes to reach their full potential on and off the court.”
