Zeeland East girls tennis earns overall OK Green title by a half point

A stunning tie at the OK Green Conference tournament produced the closest top three outcome in conference history in the overall standings.

Zeeland East and Mona Shores tied with 43 points in the tournament, both teams edging Holland (40). Zeeland West took fifth with 35.

This gave the Chix the overall conference title with 12.5 points to Holland's 12 and Mona Shores' 11.5.

Zeeland East's Taya Schanski defeated West's Tessa Rindfliesch 7-5, 6-4 in the finals at No. 3 singles.

Zeeland East's ThyAn Kleikamp survived a three-set win over Holland's Kate Ferguson 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the finals.

Zeeland West's Emily Haskill won at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the final.

Holland's Amaya Hallacy and Claudia Kurniwan defeated Zeeland East 7-6 (4), 7-5 in the finals at No. 2 doubles.

Holland's Nicole Souder and Kiernan Grigg won at No. 4 doubles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mona Shores.
