Zayn Malik Says Daughter Khai, 3, 'Helps' Him Name Animals on His Philadelphia Farm: ‘It’s Fun’

Zayn Malik is sharing a rare insight into life on his farm with his daughter Khai.

On April 17, the former One Direction star, 31, opened up about how his 3-year-old — whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid — helps him name animals on his farm in Philadelphia.

"I've got a farm, I've lived on my farm for about five, six years now," Malik told Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby. “I've got chickens, got a couple of turtles, got dogs, cats. Eventually going to branch out to making it a bit more of a proper farm when I have the time, but it's a lot of work looking after a loads of animals. I want horses eventually, I would like to get some horses, too."

Asked if he names his animals, the singer responded, “I do yeah, I think that shows a good owner," before revealing that his little girl is part of the process.

“You have to be somewhat connected to your animals, and I like to name, my daughter helps me with naming them now too so it's fun,” he added.

Las month, Malik revealed that his daughter has a “natural ability” for singing and could be following in his musical footsteps.

"Khai has a lot of natural ability herself already,” Malik said in an interview with L'Officiel on March 27. “I know, it sounds ridiculous because she's 3, but her retention for language, especially when it's formatted in a music sense to her, has been amazing. She'll remember every song that she likes."

But while Khai may be taking after her father’s vocal skills, Malik, who will release his fourth studio album Room Under the Stairs on May 17, says she hasn't joined him in the recording studio just yet.

"It's past her bedtime," he told the outlet. "She doesn't come to the studio, but she's starting to understand that Baba sings and Baba does music."

"She asks everybody, whenever there's a song on the radio, 'Is my Baba singing?' But in front of me, she gets shy about it."

Earlier this month, the “Love Like This” singer shared his first live performance since 2016 as he dropped his new single "Alienated."

The new track followed the March release of his song "What I Am."
