Dallas Cowboys’ lineman Zack Martin is arguably the best right guard in the league. And according to recent comments from the four-time All-Pro star, he intends to stay in that position moving forward.

Following the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs, starting right tackle La’el Collins was handed a five-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

In wake of this news, many fans and analysts suggested that Martin slide over to the RT position — a move he made for two games last year when the Cowboys were faced with a rash of injuries on the offensive line.

While that move was necessary under extreme circumstances in 2020, Martin insists that he is a right guard through and through.

On Tuesday, longtime owner Jerry Jones named Terence Steele, who started 14 games at right tackle for Dallas in 2020, as the starter moving forward.

Jones addressed the possibility of moving Martin to tackle during an appearance with 105.3FM the Fan earlier this week.

“Our offense is just best served with [Martin] at right guard,” he said. “We have a good alternative and [Martin] will be very helpful [to Steele].”

Martin missed the Cowboys’ season-opener with a positive COVID-19 test, but was cleared from the list earlier this week.

He and the rest of the Dallas frontline will face off against Joey Bosa and the Chargers’ pass rush on Sunday afternoon.
