The holdout is finally over. Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson and the New York Jets wrapped up contract negotiations on Thursday.

Wilson was the last first-round pick to sign a contract with his respective team. Both he and the Jets can now finally put negotiations behind them and focus solely on football.

The former BYU star is ready to get to work. He sent a message to Jets fans after signing his rookie deal on Thursday. Let’s just say he’s ready to get back on the football field.

“Let’s go win some football games,” Wilson said on Twitter.

Did the New York Jets finally get the quarterback position right? We’ll have to wait to find out.

The Jets are under immense pressure here. They took Zach Wilson over Trey Lance, Justin Fields and Mac Jones. If Wilson proves to be a bust and any of the other three turn out to be a quality quarterback, the Jets will continue to be the laughingstock of the NFL.

We don’t necessarily blame the Jets for taking a chance on Wilson, though. He was sensational for BYU last season. Wilson completed 73.5 percent of his throws for 3,692 yards and 33 touchdowns with just three interceptions. The NFL is a whole different beast, though.

Wilson didn’t play too many quality opponents when he was with the Cougars. He won’t get the same experience in the NFL, where each and every week is a flat-out grind.

With contract disputes now out of the way, Wilson will join the Jets in training camp soon.
