Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor addressed quarterback Joe Burrow's wrist injury following the 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Burrow injured his right wrist in the second quarter and was quickly taken to the locker room. He was ruled out to return to the game to start the second half. Taylor said they think at this point Burrow's wrist is sprained.

"It looked like he sprained his wrist," Taylor said following the game. "He fell on it early in the game and then felt it on the touchdown pass."

Burrow was seen leaving M&T Bank Stadium with his right wrist wrapped up. Cincinnati's franchise quarterback will get an MRI on Friday to determine the severity of his injury. When asked if Taylor thinks he will be able to return this season, the fifth-year head coach was unable to say. It's unclear at the moment how much time Burrow could miss.

"I have no idea," Taylor responded. "All the information I have is two seconds worth and then we went to go try to fight to win the game."

Burrow wasn't available to speak with the media following game. All details thus far have come from Taylor's brief press conference following the game. Taylor was unaware of the specific play when Burrow injured his wrist.

As far as any speculation on if Burrow came into Thursday's game with a wrist injury, Taylor said he was "not aware" of any injury. Wide receiver Tyler Boyd also said he wasn't aware of Burrow dealing with anything out of the ordinary soreness most NFL players feel at this point in the season. Burrow was not placed on the injury report at any point this week.

A few videos of Burrow surfaced on social media on Wednesday that showed him getting off a team bus as the team arrived in Baltimore with a black wrap on his hand. The Bengals deleted the footage they posted of Burrow getting off the plane which fueled even more speculation. If Burrow was dealing with an injury and the Bengals knew and failed to include him on the injury report, they would be in violation of the NFL's injury report policy.

It seems highly unlikely that the Bengals would put themselves at risk in this situation. In 2019, the NFL fined the Pittsburgh Steelers $75,000 and coach Mike Tomlin $25,000 for violating the league's injury report policy.

This season has been one full of adversity for Burrow and his health. From straining his calf on the second day of training camp to reaggravating it in Week 2 and not returning to full health until recently, and now the wrist injury will be something else he has to manage.

With Burrow sidelined, Browning will continue to be Cincinnati's starting quarterback. Behind Browning is former Bengals' quarterback A.J. McCarron who was signed to the practice squad earlier this season. Browning completed 8-of-14 passes for 68 yards and one touchdown against the Ravens.

With seven regular-season games to go and a 5-5 record, Taylor remains confident in his team's ability to make a postseason push even if Burrow misses time.

"We lost (by) a last-second field goal, and then we lost a tough game Thursday night on the road to a really good team, so don’t get it twisted on what kind of team we have," Taylor said. "We’ve got a chance to regroup. All the things that we really wanted to do are still in front of us."
