Oklahoma City police are investigating what led a father to kill his wife and three of his children in an apparent murder-suicide inside their Yukon-area home.

The five people were found dead Monday morning, and police released their names to the public Tuesday.

Here's everything we know about the victims and the investigation so far.

Who were the victims in Yukon-area murder-suicide?

Investigators believe Jonathon Candy, 42, shot and killed four members of his family before turning the gun on himself, according to a news release.

"It remains a mystery as to what caused Mr. Candy to murder his wife and three of his children," police said in a news release.

The victims were:

  • Lindsay Candy, 39

  • Dylan Candy, 18

  • Ethan Candy, 14

  • Lucas Candy, 12

There was a fourth child in the residence who was unharmed and has been released to family members, police said.

What we know about the Candy family

Two of the victims were Mustang Public Schools students, the school district confirmed Monday.

According to information provided by the school, Lucas Candy was in the sixth grade and attended Meadow Brook Intermediate; Ethan Candy was in the ninth grade and attended Mustang High School; and Dylan Candy was a 2023 Mustang Public Schools graduate.

"We are shocked, and our hearts are broken; this tragedy simply defies understanding," the district's superintendent Charles Bradley said in an email sent to district families Monday.

What we know about the investigation into 5 dead in Yukon-area home

Oklahoma City police responded to a call at 9:35 Monday morning regarding five dead inside a residence at 2804 Mirage St, a home within the Czech Hall Estates subdivision near SW 29 and Czech Hall Road.

Police reported in a request for a search warrant in Canadian County District Court that a 10-year-old boy discovered the bodies, a law enforcement official told The Oklahoman. The request also stated a gun was found on top of a man.

Police announced Tuesday morning that the deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide, and are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at 405-297-1200.
