Sunday's scheduled Formula 1 race at Imola was canceled after floods devastated the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, but not all F1 participants left the area when the word was announced. One driver, third-year AlphaTauri prospect Yuki Tsunoda, is helping with clean-up efforts in his recently-adopted home, the Romagna city of Faenza.

According to a post on Instagram shared by an Italian radio station, Tsunoda helped clean a flooded street by a hotel in Faenza. Other videos and photos posted to social media show Tsunoda and others clearing the street with a shovel, removing thick pockets of mud left behind after flood waters receded. While restoring the city and other parts of Emilia-Romagna will take significant effort from many, Tsunoda's part is no small thing for an F1 driver.

Tsunoda posted a photo of a flooded street in the city a day earlier, along with donation information for a fundraiser meant to provide aid to the region. He is currently in the midst of a breakout season, recording finishes of 10th or 11th in all five races run to date in an AlphaTauri car that has given rookie teammate Nyck de Vries constant headaches. While his future as an F1 driver was in question during both his first and second seasons in the sport, recent runs are encouraging signs that suggest he could have a long future in the top level of European open wheel racing.
