A youth football team from Fresno was on the field at Oakland Technical High School on Sunday afternoon when gunshots rang out, sending players, cheerleaders, coaches and parents scrambling for safety.

A 52-year-old woman, 30-year-old man and 6-year-old girl were struck, according to reports. The victims were all in stable condition late Sunday, according to Oakland Police.

“None appear to be from Fresno,” Officer Darryl Rodgers said in an email to The Bee.

The department is investigating the shooting, which occurred shortly after 1:15 p.m. in the first half of a game between the 10-and-under teams from the ValleyBoyz and Oakland Dynamite.

“We were trying to get the kids on the ground or out of the way,” said a witness, who asked not to be identified. “People were scrambling everywhere and panicking.”

The 6-year-old girl was taken to a nearby home, and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, according to a report in the East Bay Times.

The 52-year-old woman walked into another hospital around 3 p.m. with a gunshot wound to her leg, and the 30-year old man was struck in the feet and lower torso. He was treated at the scene by Oakland firefighters and paramedics and transported to the hospital, according to the Times.

Oakland Police did not release any information on suspects or a possible motive. Police are asking anyone with information on the shootings to contact the felony assault unit at 510-238-3426.
