The following positions are available in Marion County:

911 Dispatcher, Marion County Sheriff's Office

The Marion County Sheriff’s office is looking for someone over the age of 18 to work full time as a dispatcher. In this role, the candidate will be expected to take 911 calls and business line calls from all over the county. The candidate will also be responsible for dispatching various fire departments and law enforcement agencies. This position is good for those with excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to work under pressure, in addition to superb customer service skills. The job also requires availability during off hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays. The pay for this position starts at $20.45/hour, which is raised to $22.55/hour after three years. The probationary period is one year, after which benefits including dental, health, vision, and retirement will be made available. Pre-Trial Officer/Court Investigator, Marion County Common Pleas Court

The Marion County Common Pleas Court is looking for an “Independent, self starter” to work as a Pre-Trial Officer and Court Investigator. This position will involve the candidate in the processes of the pre-trial release program. They will be conducting interviews and criminal record checks of alleged offenders to assess their eligibility for the program, as well as supervising offenders’ compliance with bond conditions. They will also need to prepare written bond violation notices and reports.

As Court Investigator, the candidate will be responsible for conducting investigations and writing subsequent reports on defendants and offenders. Investigations may include but are not limited to, “obtaining the official version of the instant offense, the defendant’s version of the offense, adjudications of the defendant as a delinquent child, criminal history as an adult, social history including family, marital, educational, substance abuse, and employment history of felony offenders who have been ordered by the Court to undergo a pre-sentence investigation.”

In either position, the candidate may be assigned to the monitoring of offenders under house arrest, conduct of alcohol/drug tests, arrest/transport offenders, testify at court hearings, conduct meetings with offenders, and other duties.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree in the field of criminal justice, criminology, psychology, or an associate’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, social services, case management, counseling, or a related field and two or more years of experience.

The following three positions are available within the City of Marion.

Bus Driver, Marion Area Transit

Marion Area Transit is hiring a part-time bus driver. While assisting the City of Marion in the transportation of riders along designated routes and maintaining logs, the candidate will also be required to undertake multiple tasks including but not limited to assisting passengers with boarding and operating a wheelchair lift, recording ridership counts electronically, conducting bus inspections, and following ODOT and MAT rules and regulations. Familiarity with Marion’s roads is preferred, as well as social skills. A high school diploma or GED, as well as valid Ohio driver’s license without restrictions are required for this position. Pay starts at $13.51/hour. Passing of a background check, drug test, and physical examination is required.

Contingent Van Driver, Marion Senior Center

Marion Senior Center is looking for a part-time van driver, whose responsibilities will include transporting seniors from homes to provided destinations, maintaining communications through radio, and conducting safe and responsible driving practices. CPR certification, Defensive Driving, and DRIVE training courses will be required, and a candidate will be reimbursed or paid for attending said courses. A high school diploma or GED is required, as well as a minimum of two years of safe driving experience and no less than three years without moving violations or convictions. Additional training, such as Passenger Assistance and First Aid will be part of job training. Familiarity with Marion roads is preferred.

Garbage Truck Labor, Marion Garage

Marion needs a garbage truck laborer. This role requires greater physical abilities than many jobs, including but not limited to the ability to regularly lift up to 100 pounds. Responsibilities in this role include gathering and dumping garbage from yards, gathering and separating recyclable materials, cleaning a garbage truck, and more. A valid Ohio driver’s license and minimum Class B Commercial Driver’s License are required, and a Class A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred. Highschool diploma or GED required, with vocational, construction work, or related experience preferred. Performing under a supervisor, the pay for this position starts at $17.87/hour.
