Ashley Tisdale has been incredibly busy these days—both with work and her family—so she relies on her daily routines to keep her grounded. Most importantly, the Frenshe founder knows that her morning sets the tone for her whole day—so she always begins with a meditation.

“Meditation is key in the morning for me,” she tells WH. “Once I had a baby, it’s like [my] thoughts just go rampant—you have natural anxiety for your child[’s safety].”

The actress’ daughter, Jupiter, will be three in March. And since being mom to a toddler is stressful in its own right, Ashley typically tries to squeeze in a quick meditation before her little one wakes up—which means it usually happens around 6:30 a.m. “Sometimes, I don’t have that kind of time,” she confesses. “But if I don’t, it really shows throughout the day.”

For her practice, the wellness brand founder relies on meditation apps. Ashley loves Insight Timer. “It’s one of my favorites because you can just search for whatever you’re feeling, and they have it,” she says.

And since she first joined the meditation train while pregnant, she also recommends the Expectful app (which is designed for expecting mothers).

In fact, Frenshe recently partnered with Expectful, and one of the guided meditations they created is specifically designed for mornings. The star’s daily practice helps her combat her struggles with anxiety and mental spirals, and even improves the way she talks to herself in her head. “People with anxiety tend to think more negatively, so [meditation] is helpful for me to catch that thought [later], and be like, ‘Oh, it’s just a thought,'" Ashley explains.

After carving out time for a moment of mindfulness, Ashley does her other essential morning rituals. For one, she’s obsessive with her dental care—and loves using Colgate Plaque Pro Release. “I feel so much more confident going to the dentist [now that I’m] using it,” she says.

And while she usually opts for a no-makeup look, she uses Rhode’s Glazing Milk every morning to keep her skin dewy.

Moisturizer is a part of my makeup routine, but when I work from home I don’t put makeup on, so [I use the Rhode Glazing Milk,]” she says. “My skin feels so much more hydrated during the day.”

Overall, Ashley tries not to add too many products to her morning routine. “Less is more for me,” she says.

For breakfast, Ashley tries to stave off caffeine (it makes her anxious), and instead whips up a morning matcha paired with an egg scramble. She loves it when her husband, Christopher French, cooks for her. “My husband cooks a lot,” she says. “It’s pretty amazing. He took cooking classes, and it changed his life—and mine.”

After breakfast, the actor is usually ready to dive into her Frenshe work. On her days off, though, she heads to the beach with her fam. “It's really about taking those moments when you can,” she says of her busy schedule. “[I like to] spend the weekend work-free—every weekend we’re at the beach.”

Ashley says she feels most at peace near the water. And her daughter loves it, too. “Seeing her love it just as much as I do—I think that's why we do it all the time,” she says.
