Young woman stabbed to death in random attack at upscale Los Angeles furniture store

A 24-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Thursday afternoon while working at a high-end furniture store in Los Angeles.

Brianna Kupfer was killed in what police have described as a random attack. No arrests have been made.

The attacker entered Croft House in Hampton Park, just south of Hollywood, stabbed Kupfer and left through the back door, Los Angeles Police said in a press release. Kupfer was working alone at the time.

A customer walked into the store around 2 p.m., found her body and called police. Kupfer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Security video showed the suspect strolling down an alley wearing all black and a white face mask. He has not been identified, though police said they believe he is homeless.

Kupfer was a University of Miami graduate from Pacific Palisades who was working toward an architectural design degree at UCLA, according to KCBS. A makeshift memorial was built outside Croft House.

“I’m absolutely devastated for her and her family,” Croft House co-owner Riley Rea told the Los Angeles Times. “It just seems so disgusting and unexpected. Really there are no words to say how shocked we are to lose such a wonderful person.”
