Young Sheldon star marks last day on set with emotional throwback post
Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage has shared an emotional throwback post to mark his last day on set filming the show.
Armitage has played the title role in The Big Bang Theory spin-off since 2018, the younger version of Sheldon Cooper (who was played by Jim Parsons in the original series).
Now the CBS comedy is coming to an end, and while the final season is currently airing, the cast has now completed filming on the show.

To mark the sad occasion, Armitage posted a sweet throwback on Instagram of his younger self on set, with the caption: "This is 8 yr old me getting ready to film the very first scene I did as Young Sheldon.
"@melissapeterman [who plays Brenda Sparks on the show] recently asked what I would go back and tell my younger self. Maybe I wouldn’t tell him anything and I would just let life unfold as it does, but I think he’d be so surprised and happy to see where we are now. I sure am."
He continued: "I don’t think this kid could have anticipated what it would feel like to film our final scene all these years later. Thank you, amazing crew, past and present, and those who have been there the whole time. I love you all so much!"
Director Alex Reid, who has worked on more than 30 episodes of the show over seven years, paid his own tribute to the series, posting a photo on Instagram of the empty set.
In the caption, he wrote: "Today was a wrap on the final season of Young Sheldon. I can’t express how much my time on this show has meant to me. To watch these actors evolve through the years felt like watching my own family grow and change.

"Right now I have no words but in the coming days I’ll post some of my photos from the 36 episodes I was fortunate enough to direct. This is from this afternoon, before we shot our last scene."
Armitage has teased that the show’s upcoming finale, which is set to air on May 16, will give the show a "full circle" ending.
Young Sheldon airs on CBS in the US and E4 in the UK, while you can buy The Big Bang Theory complete boxset now on DVD and Blu-ray.
