MTV’s supernatural drama Teen Wolf ended with its 100th and final episode in 2017. Now, more than five years after the show wrapped its sixth and final season, the series is back — but this time, in the form of a feature film. According to Variety, Teen Wolf series creator Jeff Davis has partnered with Paramount Plus to create a movie revival about new evils threatening Scott McCall and terrorizing Beacon Hills.

The last time fans saw Teen Wolf on the small screen, Scott was joined by a young werewolf named Alec, who helped him fight new hunters on a mission to kill every supernatural being in Beacon Hills. In one of the show’s final scenes, Scott's pack welcomed Alec into their fold. It appears that the revival will pick up with Scott, Alec, and the rest of the pack after the events of the finale.

But there’s still so much more to know. How many cast members from the original series are reprising their role for the film? What new characters can we expect? Is there a release date set? If you’re dying to know every detail about the upcoming movie, here are the details.

What will Teen Wolf: The Movie be about?

After a terrifying evil emerges, banshees, werecoyotes, hellhounds, kitsunes, and other shapeshifters descend upon Beacon Hills. According to Variety, “Only a werewolf like Scott McCall (Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they've ever faced.”

In a July 2022 interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator Jeff Davis revealed that there will be more of a time jump than fans anticipated. Obviously, the show’s beloved characters will be a little older since it’s been five years since its finale, but Jeff says we’ll see Scott and Derek play roles older than the actors who are portraying them. “These two are back in a big way, and we get to see them in their lives later,” Jeff said in EW’s Comic-Con video suite. “I can tell you it's a jump in time ahead, so we actually see an older Scott McCall. Scott McCall is now older than Tyler Posey.”

“And I’ve always been older than Scott McCall,“ Tyler said. “It’s very weird. It’s cool but it’s nice. I’ve always played a teenager my entire life so now it’s nice to play a 30-plus-year-old.” Tyler Hoechlin, who plays Derek, also dished that his character will be a father in the upcoming movie. “I thought it was a great thing to come back as a father and for his new challenge to not be about himself and figuring out who he was but trying to guide his son through that same process,” he told EW.

Is there a trailer for Teen Wolf: The Movie?

Yes! On December 5, Paramount Plus dropped the official trailer for Teen Wolf: The Movie and OMG we cannot believe we’re back in Beacon Hills. In the two-minute-long clip, Scott, the Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, and Kitsunes return to their hometown and band together to defeat a horrifying new villain. Meanwhile, Scott and Allison reunite after years apart.

Back in October, the streamer debuted a first look at the upcoming film during New York Comic Con. For nearly two-and-a-half minutes, viewers get to watch what happens when an injured Derek Hale and his dad, Eli, have an unexpected and deadly reunion with Allison Argent.

On August 28, during the 2022 MTV VMAs, Teen Wolf fans got another glimpse of the film they’ve been patiently waiting for. The action-packed, 30-second teaser features our favorites making their return to fight against a samurai-sword-wielding evil army. Allison Argent (Crystal Reed) is also revealed to be alive after her untimely death in season 3. Before this abbreviated clip made its debut, a teaser trailer debuted on July 21.

Is there a poster for Teen Wolf: The Movie?

We're weeks away from the official debut of Paramount Plus' Teen Wolf: The Movie. The streaming giant gave fans a glimpse into the highly-anticipated reboot with a brand new movie poster that delivers a chilling message. OG Teen Wolf stars Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed, Tyler Posey, Colton Haynes, Seth Gilliam, Shelley Hennig, and Dylan Sprayberry grace the poster along with Teen Wolf newbie Amy Lin Workman, who will star as Hikari Zhang in the upcoming reboot. Leaving little to no room for questions of what viewers should expect, the poster featured the quote, "The Pack is Back."

Will any of the original cast return for the Teen Wolf revival?

Yep! Per Variety, most of the show’s original cast has signed on to appear in the Teen Wolf revival. Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, Crystal Reed, Orny Adams, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne, Seth Gilliam, Colton Haynes, Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio, and Dylan Sprayberry will all reprise their roles.

On the other hand, Dylan O’Brien, Arden Cho, and Tyler Hoechlin weren’t included in the initial list. According to a report by Buzzfeed, Arden was the only Asian actor in the “predominantly white cast” of the beloved MTV series during its six-year run. In February 2022, Deadline reported that she will not be reprising her role as Kira Yukimura in the movie after she was reportedly offered half the salary of her white counterparts. Dylan O’Brien liked a tweet referencing the report, adding to the speculation.

Dylan confirmed that he will not be in the upcoming movie in an exclusive interview with Variety on March 9, 2022. “It was a difficult decision. A lot went into it,” Dylan told the outlet. “The show couldn’t be more dear to me. It was the first thing I ever did I and so many people there are extremely dear to me. It was something I was trying to make work but it all happened very fast. We didn’t really know that it was happening and they kind of just threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show. We were trying to figure it out.” The actor, who's producing his own movie The Outfit, added that he was content with how his character, Stiles’ story ended was when the series finale aired in 2017.

In July 2022, showrunner Jeff Davis revealed that although Dylan isn’t reprising his role as Stiles, he still exists in this universe and will be referred to. “The movie does answer the question of what happened to ‘Stydia,’ so you’re going to have to watch,” Jeff told Entertainment Weekly. “And Stiles, while he isn’t in the movie, is ever present in the movie. These characters all leave an influence so there’s no way we could have done it without mentioning him or at least referencing, but all the other characters are there too. You’ll see some familiar faces.”

On April 14, 2022, Cody Christian, who played Theo Raeken in the fifth and sixth seasons of the original series, confirmed that he is also not returning for Teen Wolf The Movie. The actor shared the news in a tweet, citing scheduling conflicts: “Although the full moon and our schedules didn’t align this time, I’m excited to see what’s next in the Teen Wolf universe. Will always be a home. Will always have my broken chimera heart 🐺 🌚.”

As for Tyler Hoechlin, Deadline reported that he will likely return as his status is “in flux.” The outlet also noted that Paramount Plus will be announcing additional cast names ahead of the movie’s release.

Are there photos from Teen Wolf: The Movie?

On November 21, 2022, Entertainment Weekly shared even more photos from the upcoming feature film, giving us another glimpse of what’s to come. In one shot, Allison (Crystal Reed) stares in stunned silence as the Nogitsune menacingly peers over her shoulder. We knew that Allison returns for the revival film, but the actress hinted that she portrays a “different” side of her character. “We don't even know if she’s alive,” Crystal previously revealed to EW, calling back to Allison’s death in the season 3 finale episode. “We’re not supposed to tell you if she’s even alive or not. That’s what we got. She’s back but is she alive?” Hmmmm.
