'Yo, somebody give me a Sharpie!' Flavor Flav meets hero Mario Andretti at Indy 500

You might not expect someone like Hall of Fame rapper Flavor Flav to be starstruck by another celebrity outside the music and entertainment industry. But that's exactly how Flav reacted when he spotted Mario Andretti ahead of Sunday's 2024 Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The interaction was captured in a video Flav posted to X, formerly Twitter.

"Since I was a little kid, you and Al Unser have been one of my favorite racecar drivers of all time," Flav, born William Jonathan Drayton, said after bowing in respect to the 1969 Indy 500 winner. "I could not wait to meet you."

Clad in a checkered IMS jacket, the founding member of pioneering hip-hop group Public Enemy next asked for Andretti's autograph.

"Yo, somebody give me a Sharpie! Who got a Sharpie? Yo," Flav told Andretti, "Could you sign my jacket?"

Andretti, smiling, signed Flav's back, who then asked if he could have a photo.
