'Yellowjackets' Cast Teases Season 3 Without Juliette Lewis (Exclusive)
Into the wilderness we go for season 3 of Yellowjackets!
After the official end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the cast of the Showtime series is back to work. Sadly, they are one team member short, as Juliette Lewis will not return, following the death of her character, Natalie, at the end of season 2.
"Juliette Lewis is such a fantastic actress that [it] really breaks my heart. They're such a big part of the show," Samantha Hanratty said to ET about the shocking death. "I think that with that grief, it's gonna bring out a lot of interesting levels of the other characters and I'm really excited to see that. Sophie Thatcher (teen Natalie) is gonna keep Natalie's legacy living."
On Monday, during the 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards, the cast spoke to ET's Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner about what's to come. And brace yourself, things are getting wilder.
"I'm gonna put it out there that season 1 is chaotic and messy, season 2 is like still cold and dark and it was winter, and then this one was the meltdown," Hanratty added. "You're going to see the melting of like what these people are and really get to see like the broness of these girls."
"I think season 3 will probably be the wildest, bloodiest season that we have. Granted, we don't know anything to be fair," Steven Krueger who plays Coach Ben, said. "Granted, we don't know anything to be fair. I'm just guessing that's where it's going."
"I feel like we're going downhill for the characters," Courtney Eaton, who plays teen Lottie, added. "I don't think there's much light or happiness going on."
"We're going definitely very feral. Like it's getting feral," Sophie Nélisse, who plays teen Shauna, added.
Yellowjacketsis nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, and Melanie Lynskey picked up an individual nomination for her role as adult Shauna in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Category.
The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, originally set to take place last September, was postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. Hosted by Anthony Anderson at L.A. Live's Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the ceremony will air live Monday, Jan. 15 at 5 p.m. PT, 8 p.m. ET on Fox, and will be streamed Tuesday, Jan. 16 on Hulu.
