Yellowjackets boss announces "bonus episode" before season 3

Yellowjackets season 2 spoilers follow.

Yellowjackets co-creator Ashley Lyle has confirmed that there will be a "bonus episode" before season 3 airs.

The hit thriller series wrapped up its second season over the weekend (May 28), with anticipation sky-high over what dark twists are yet to come.

Luckily, viewers may not have to wait as long, with Lyle tweeting in response to a fan: "There will be a bonus episode between seasons, but I love you guys and I don't want y'all to lose sleep thinking it's tonight."

Giving more specifics on when it may air, Lyle said that it will be closer to season 3, noting things are complicated at the moment with the writers' strike.

Asked when it will broadcast, she replied to another fan: "Closer to S3. I'm not being coy, there's a strike and things are complicated!"

Meanwhile, speaking last week ahead of the season finale, star Sophie Thatcher opened up about a key moment in the penultimate episode, which saw her character Natalie picked as a sacrifice, before escaping and Javi ending up being chosen to be killed.

The star explained to The Hollywood Reporter that a cut scene would have gone deeper into why they came to this extreme decision.

"I think it was a group decision, and it was everybody kind of forcing themselves into believing that this is what Lottie would have wanted, which isn’t true," she said.

"But I think they're taking on that natural team dynamic, because they're a team, and they need a leader, and they've always had a leader, and it used to be Jackie.

"Lottie is this new leader, but she's out of it. And Misty definitely added some manipulation."

Yellowjackets season 2 airs on Showtime in the US and Paramount+ in the UK.
