GREEN BAY – Organizers of the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon announced Friday that the 25th running of the event May 19 will be its final race.

“When the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon started, the vision was to create a community event that shined a spotlight on greater Green Bay, encouraged wellness and helped make a difference for local charities. This was achieved through more than 183,000 participants, millions of dollars in economic impact and nearly $1.8 million donated to local charities,” said Brighid Riordan, the CEO of Cellcom and board vice president of the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. “Our 2024 event will be a celebration of our collective accomplishments over the last quarter century, and we hope the community will join us on the course and at the finish line.”

The 26.2-mile Cellcom Marathon started in June 2000 under former race director Gloria West.

It was a popular event for thousands of runners because of the opportunity to race through Lambeau Field before crossing the finish line.

The race was run virtually in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic before returning in-person in 2022.
