Yankees fans react to John Sterling retirement on social media
The radio voice of the Yankees is retiring and it is a sad day for fans.
John Sterling announced on Monday that he is stepping aside effective immediately. He has called Yankees games since 1989.
Some posted memories of growing up listening to Sterling call a game or their favorite call by the legendary broadcaster.
Even fellow broadcaster and New Jersey native Dick Vitale even posted on social media: "Here is hoping that JOHN STERLING legendary voice of the @Yankees can enjoy his retirement with health & happiness . May GOD BLESS him."
Here are some reactions on social media:
John Sterling really was the voice for GENERATIONS of Yankees fans. If he is going to retire, what a hell of a run.
