World of Wheels, Henry Winkler drive into Kansas City this weekend. Here’s what to know

Classic cars, low-riders, exotic European vehicles — and TV star and Kansas City Chiefs fan Henry Winkler — roll into Bartle Hall in downtown Kansas City this weekend for the 63rd annual World of Wheels.

The family-friendly event Friday to Sunday is the largest in the 2023 tour, with over 800 cars, trucks, motorcycles and customs. Spokesman Larry Way said the show is taking advantage of the huge convention center.

Many of the cars were restored by older people who dropped the hobby in their youth, and picked it back later. It’s not uncommon for someone to spend $500,000 by adding new brakes and car frames over many years, Way said.

“You walk in and you see millions and millions and millions of dollars worth of cars and whether you’re interested in these cars or not, you walk in and say, ‘Wow, this is really something,’” Way said. “It’s automotive art.”

It could take most of a day to see them all.

The show is open from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Special guests include Winkler, star of TV’s “Happy Days” and “Barry” and a huge fan of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Winkler will be at the show every day.

Hip-hop icon Flavor Flav will attend Friday. Danny Koker and Kevin Mack from the popular automotive reality show “Counting Cars” will be there on Saturday, and Mike Finnegan from the reality show “Roadkill” will attend Sunday.

How much are tickets?

General admission tickets cost $23 for adults and $8 for children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. You can buy tickets at Bartle Hall.

Discounted tickets are available at O’Reilly Auto Parts around Kansas City, costing $21 for adults and $7 for children ages 6-12.
