World Series Game 3 fan updates: Fall Classic returns to Phoenix

The Arizona Diamondbacks kick off a three-game homestand against the Texas Rangers beginning with Game 3 of the World Series on Monday evening at Chase Field. The 2023 Fall Classic is tied 1-1 in this best-of-seven series.

The DBacks sealed Game 2 on Saturday, as they so often do, with Merrill Kelly on the mound, guiding the way to a dominant 9-1 victory. On Friday night, the DBacks narrowly lost Game 1 with a score of 6-5 following an intense 11 innings of play at Globe Life Stadium.

Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll and the rest of the DBacks return to Phoenix to take on the Texas Rangers for Games 3, 4 and 5.

Watch as DBacks fans — and maybe a few Rangers fans who call Arizona home — come out with style to support their teams.

Temperatures in low 80s expected in Phoenix area

Sunny skies and breezy temperatures were expected for the Phoenix area on Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Phoenix — a perfect setting as the Diamondbacks host the Rangers.

"Stronger winds will spread further east tomorrow (Monday) across southcentral Arizona," a weather service report stated Sunday afternoon. "Near to below normal temperatures will continue through mid-week ahead of a warming trend going through the end of this week."

Meteorologists expected a high temperature of 82 degrees and a low of 56 was forecast for Monday, with Tuesday temperatures rising a bit to 84 degrees and a low of 55.

Winds of 10-20 mph were expected on both days.

2 DBacks legends to throw first pitch in Game 3

Two key players from the Arizona Diamondbacks 2001 World Series Championship team will return to Chase Field on Monday to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the team's three-game homestand in the 2023 World Series.

Major League Baseball announced Sunday afternoon that Luis Gonzalez and Hall of Famer Randy Johnson will return to the field to throw the first pitch before Game 3.

In 2001, Gonzalez delivered the walk-off, series-clinching hit over the New York Yankees infield to score Jay Bell and give Arizona the World Series title. Johnson pitched in the Game 7 win and was named World Series co-MVP.

For Game 4 on Tuesday, Masters Champion, Arizona State University alumnus and Phoenix resident Jon Rahm will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

The 2023 Fall Classic is tied 1-1 as the Diamondbacks play host to the Texas Rangers at 5 p.m. (Arizona time) Monday at Chase Field. The game will be broadcast live beginning at 5 p.m. on FOX, FOX Deportes and ESPN Radio.
