Worker injured during demolition of bridge in Las Vegas
Part of a Las Vegas bridge undergoing demolition collapsed suddenly Thursday, injuring a construction worker.
The unidentified worker was transported to a hospital, the Las Vegas fire department said. The worker’s condition has not been reported.
The bridge and the road under it had been closed to traffic, so there was no danger to the public.
The worker was injured in a “partial structure failure,” local CBS affiliate KSNV reported. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the incident.
The bridge carried U.S. Route 95 across Eastern Ave. about 5 miles north of the Strip. Demolition work started Monday, according to LVFD.
