Worcester snow: 1-2 inches expected Wednesday night

WORCESTER — Don't put away the shovels just yet.

According to the National Weather Service forecast for Worcester, between 1 to 2 inches of snow could accumulate Wednesday night.

And the forecast is not pretty for the remainder of week.

WooSox fans may be wondering about the weather for the home opener at Polar Park Tuesday (3:05 p.m.). There is about a 30% chance of rain that day, mainly after 5pm. On Tuesday the high is expected to be near 47 degrees.

Going into Wednesday morning, rain showers are likely before 5 a.m. The forecast then calls for rain, possibly mixed with snow, before 10 a.m. Snow is not expected to accumulate. The Wednesday high will be about 40 degrees.

Expect more rain, possibly mixed with snow, Thursday. After noon, it will be all rain. The high will be near 40 degrees. At night, it is forecast to be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow before 11 p.m. and a chance of snow showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Friday.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers after 3 p.m. The high will be near 44 degrees. It will be mostly cloudy at night with a chance of showers before 8 p.m.
