If Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are actually brothers, it would be one of the best things to happen since Larry David and Bernie Sanders found out they were distant cousins. Someone get Finding Your Roots's Dr. Gates on the phone, because I need this confirmed ASAP. The two True Detective co-stars are already as close as peanut butter and jelly—and Harrelson even mentioned on the Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast that their families often mix them up in old photos.

Hell, McConaughey and Harrelson are even set to appear in an upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series, titled Brother From Another Mother. Well, it goes even deeper than that. McConaughey's mother allegedly knew Harrelson's father—with emphasis on the knew—and though the soon-to-be Yellowstone spinoff star didn't divulge any more, he added that the two actors are "on the precipice" of confirming their suspicions with DNA tests.

In the latest episode of Esquire's "Explain This," our newest digital cover stars Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux address the coincidence of Harrelson and McConaughey's familiar timelines overlapping while promoting their upcoming HBO series, White House Plumbers. "I don't know because we haven't done the testing," Harrelson explains, "but I can say that there's a lot of almost insane coincidences. His mom had a relationship with my dad right around the time he was conceived. That seems like a big coincidence."

McConaughey's father also told his mother that he wasn't going to the hospital the day of his birth, Harrelson alleges, because he told her, "that ain't my son." Previously, McConaughey said that he was more hesitant to take the DNA test than Harrelson because he didn't want to know if his father wasn't his real biological parent, "after 53 years of believing that." Even if we never know for sure, Harrelson and McConaughey—at least in spirit—are brothers enough in our book.
