A third Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot is reportedly not happening at DC Studios, despite those positive whispers earlier this month.

According to Variety, the company's CEO's James Gunn and Peter Safran, who have an 8-to-10-year masterplan in place for DC's gallery of heroes and villains, aren't currently focussed on continuing the story of Diana Prince.

The only related project set to materialise is a prequel show Paradise Lost.

This comes just over a week after Gadot's revelatory quotes for ComicBook.com, where she fondly reflected on her time as the DC superhero and teased a future big-screen return.

"I love portraying Wonder Woman," she said. "It's so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we're gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together."

The Heart of Stone actress also told Flaunt of a possible third outing as she added: "I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and what they told me, and I'm quoting: 'You're in the best hands. We're going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you.

"'[We] love you as Wonder Woman— you've got nothing to worry about.' So time will tell."

Gadot spoke to Entertainment Tonight about a sequel to Wonder Woman 1984, too, where she teased: "Things are being worked behind the scenes, and once the right moment arrives, you'll know about it."

While their plans simmer away in a secret bunker somewhere, DC fans have so much to look forward to on the big screen, with Blue Beetle due out on August 18, before the heavily-delayed Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom swims into cinemas on Christmas Day.
