AJ Allmendinger and van Gisbergen traded the lead for most of the day, but Allmendinger flat-spotted his tires on the final run and ceded the lead to his teammate in the final 10 laps. van Gisbergen was poised to win before the first of two late-race cautions. While most stayed out, Larson went to pit road for new tires after flat-spotting them early in the run.
SVG was called for a track limits violation on the final lap and was assessed a 30-second penalty, giving Hill the runner-up spot. van Gisbergen was unofficially credited with a 27th-place finish.
Parker Kligerman won stage 1 and Riley Herbst won stage 2 as most of the leaders opted for track position and strategy over stage points.
