Who won? LHSAA state championships updates for Houma-, Thibodaux-area softball teams

Three Houma- and Thibodaux-area softball teams made it to this season's LHSAA state championships in Sulphur. Two of those teams advanced past the semifinals and to the title game, with one winning it all.

Here's how every Houma- and Thibodaux-area softball team that qualified fared at state:

E.D. White

The 4-seed Lady Cardinals punched their ticket to the semifinals in Division II select with a win over Haynes Academy, but faced an uphill battle against defending state champions Buckeye. Although EDW kept it close, the Panthers managed a 3-2 win.

Houma Christian

The third-seeded Lady Warriors made it to Sulphur with a run-rule win over D'Arbonne Woods Charter, and after defeating St. Charles 5-3 in the semifinals, HCS made its second state championship in program history and its first since 2009.

However, Houma Christian's run came to an end agonizingly close to the team's first Division III select title. HCS lost to Calvary Baptist in the state championship game, 10-9.

The Lady Terriers were the area's only team to left the championship trophy at the end of the season. Second-seed VCHS clinched its spot in Sulphur with a 9-2 win over Teurlings Catholic, and advanced to the title game by surviving a pitchers' duel in a 2-1 victory over Archbishop Hannan. Against Buckeye, Vandebilt Catholic added to its state record with its 15th title, winning 7-3.
