Who won last week's polls and who is nominated for this week's Marion Star polls

The Marion Star Best of the Week Performer Polls proved popular last week. There were 3,689 votes cast for the girls and 1,006 for the boys.

Winning the girls poll with 1,062 votes (29 percent) was Cardington's Magi Hallabrin, who won the 800 meters in 2:34.19 and was third in the 1600 at the Bucyrus Elks Invitational. Other nominees were Northmor softball's Mahaila Strobel, North Union track's Gabby Lindsey, River Valley track's Madison Ward, Pleasant softball's Katie Jordan and Marion Harding track's Lydia Price.

Winning the boys poll with 322 votes (32 percent) was River Valley's Ethan Lyon, who won the discus in 157-10 and the shot put in 56-0.5 at Colonel Crawford's Grove Keller Invitational. Other nominees were Highland baseball's Hayden Kline, Elgin baseball's Donaven Stith, Marion Harding track's Carter Ferguson and Pleasant track's Hudson Warner.

Voting for this week's polls will continue through early Sunday morning at MarionStar.com and its app.

Boys Poll

● Northmor baseball's Drew Hammond pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks, plus hit a home run in a win over Mount Gilead.

● Marion Harding baseball's Ray J Scott-Harbolt scored the game-tying run then came back in the seventh inning to deliver the game winning RBI over Highland.

● North Union baseball's Caden Potts hit a double and two singles, plus stuck out 13 with one hit allowed and two walks over five innings on the mound in a win over Ridgemont.

● River Valley baseball's Hayden Kanagy drove in four runs with a double and single in a loss to London.

● Ridgedale track's Landon Murphy won the long jump at 19 feet, 11 inches at the home David Schorr Memorial Invitational.

Girls Poll

● Northmor softball's Madison Simpson went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and five RBIs in a win over Mount Gilead.

● River Valley softball's Lanie Wooten pitched a five-inning no-hitter with one walk and 14 strikeouts, plus hit a home run, double and single in a win over North Baltimore.

● Highland softball's Lydia Shaffer struck out eight, walked three and gave up three hits in a win over Marion Harding.

● North Union softball's Savannah Queen hit a home run and two singles to drive in six runs in a win over Elgin.
