TikTok is weighing in after a college student went viral sharing her desperate (and hilarious) attempts not to cry and therefore streak her fresh spray tan.

"No chance I'm letting a tear ruin this tan," Halle Hawkins (who goes by the TikTok username @halsterhotkins) wrote in a caption to the video, in which she shares footage of herself covered in spray tan while trying not to cry in the passenger seat of a car.

"Nothing is more real than being about to cry, but you just got a spray tan," Hawkins says, as her eyes well up with tears.

Her friend, seated in the driver's seat, can be heard yelling in the background: "Don't! Don't!" while she tries to offer a distraction, so that the tears don't fall and create streaks down Hawkins' face.

"Halle, you're fine," the friend says, adding: "Okay, tell me about the cute clothes you want right now."

Then, the friend instructs Hawkins to direct her eyes toward the air-conditioning vents as a means of preventing the tears from falling down her face.

"Turn the air on high!" the friend says. "Put it on high; put your eyes in it!"

TikTok users weighed in on the video, with some acknowledging they knew the feeling well.

"Girl my ex bf broke up with me the day I got my first ever spray tan safe to say it didn’t last," wrote one.

Another commenter added her own advice, seemingly gleaned from experience: "Just bend down so your face is parallel to the ground and the tears fall straight to the floor. I’ve been there."

Another acknowledged Hawkins' friend for her assistance in offering a distraction. "Sis in the background is a real one," the commenter wrote.
