Not believing what she was seeing, a woman had to ask her husband to verify the winnings on her Michigan Lottery ticket.

What they both saw was real. She had just turned $30 in winnings into a $6,000,000 jackpot, Michigan Lottery officials said in a Friday, March 10, news release.

The woman from Alpena County said she purchased a $6,000,000 Jackpot ticket after cashing in a $30 winning ticket at an IGA grocery store in Alpena.

Her latest prize was 200,000 times more than her previous win.

“When I saw I had won the $6 million prize, my eyes got big, and I stood there in shock,” she told lottery officials. “I took the ticket home to have my husband look it over and confirm what I was seeing. We called our family and friends right after to tell them the exciting news.”

Instead of 30 annuity payments, the lottery winner chose the one-time lump sum of $4.1 million, lottery officials said.

She said she plans on using the money for home improvements and investing.

The $6,000,000 Jackpot game costs $50 to play, with three top prizes offered. There are also 81 $50,000 prizes.

Alpena is in northern Michigan about 250 miles north of Detroit.
