Woman last seen driving to school out of state reported missing by Columbia police

A Columbia woman has gone missing while traveling to an out of state school, police said Monday.

Shauna Brown, 39, has not spoken with her mother since July 10, an emotional Mozella Brown told The State. That lack of communication is out of character for Shauna, according to her mother.

Shauna was set to travel to school in Alabama, but the Columbia Police Department said it doesn’t believe she ever made it to her destination.

Shauna was last seen wearing royal blue nursing scrubs and was driving a black 2013 Toyota Corolla with a South Carolina license plate reading TXR-359, according to police.

Police did not say if foul play was suspected in Shauna’s disappearance.

Mozella said it was late last week when she told police her daughter was missing.

Shauna was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, but went to school and graduated from Midlands Technical College, Mozella said. Shauna currently attends Stamford University via online courses and is studying to be a nurse practitioner but was traveling Birmingham for her clinicals, Mozella said.

She’s also an ICU nurse at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital, according to Mozella.

“Shauna is a committed nurse and a quiet person,” Mozella said. “Her circle would be her colleagues or the people she go to school with.”

Mozella said she and Shauna liked to keep thing simple.

“We went out to eat a lot. We would go places to places like a flea market stuff like that. Little shopping, window shopping, very basic lives,” Mozella said.
