A woman was killed while walking down I-195 in Westport Monday night. Here's what we know.

WESTPORT — A woman was killed after she was struck by a vehicle while walking down a lane of highway in Westport Monday night, according to Mass. State Police.

Around 10:05 p.m., a 2010 Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound on Rte. 195 in Westport, while a woman was making her way down the right travel lane on foot, MSP said. According to MSP, it is believed she had just exited an "as of yet unknown vehicle."

"The Ford then struck the pedestrian in the right travel lane. The operator and passenger of the Ford remained on scene and were uninjured," an email from MSP reads, noting the incident occurred near the 15.7 mile marker. The woman was pronounced dead on scene, MSP said. "The unknown vehicle the pedestrian was in prior to the crash was being operated by an as-yet unknown person who left the scene after the crash. The crash remains under investigation."
