There's nothing cuter than watching babies (both human and animal!) play and explore the world around them. Karen Jennings of Detroit, Michigan noticed a fawn in her yard playing in the rain. She recorded the adorable incident and shared it to TikTok on Wednesday, August 7th. It's the cutest thing you'll see today!

The video was taken from inside Jennings' home. It shows a little fawn underneath a tree hopping around and playing in the puddles that the rain created. The adorable fawn even gets a case of the zoomies! They then head back over to mom, shaking their tail before heading towards the woods and out of sight.

How adorable was this to see! That fawn was having fun and enjoying all the splashing around. Karen's video is such a great reminder that it's really all about the little things in life. @funbynature40 also agreed, "Seeing wildlife play like this brings joy to my heart!" @jodielukacs99 admitted, "I still enjoy playing in the rain!" and @Darryl added, "Even the animals like to dance in the rain!" @C made me smile when they said, "So basically I learned that deer babies are much like human babies! How cute!"

Why Baby Animals Love to Play

If there's one thing all new parents know it's that babies have a lot of energy. I wish I had just a tiny bit of all of the energy toddlers have! They could spend all day hopping and running about without a care in the world. Not to mention, they get to take naps and recharge their batteries so they can do it all over again.

Just like for human babies, baby animals spend a lot of time learning about the world around them. Baby animals are curious and one of the ways that they learn new things is through play. Play helps them learn how to interact with others and about their new world. Through play, they learn how their bodies work, it teaches them boundaries, and it also gives them some independence from mom.

Play is also one way that baby animals learn about how and where to find food, how to fight and protect themselves, and it teaches them about which things are safe and which are not in their environment. Just like in the video, mom is always close by and keeping an eye on them.

Psychology Today explains that science may not know why all babies love to play, but they all do it in some way. "Why does this happen? Why do the youngest members of various species engage in play? Psychologists don’t know for sure, and the issue is hotly debated. The only thing scientists can agree on is that play doesn’t have any immediate purpose—it happens purely because it is enjoyable." Sounds like a great reason to me!
