Woman, 65, becomes second person to die from crash involving driver fleeing traffic stop

A 65-year-old woman became the second person to die from their injuries in a serious crash earlier this week, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said.

The woman was critically injured when a 24-year-old male driver fleeing a traffic stop ran a red light and crashed into her car and a second car, according to the sheriff's office. She died Thursday.

Her passenger, a 69-year-old man, was killed at the scene, the sheriff's office said. The crash occurred about 10 p.m. Tuesday at North 27th Street and West St. Paul Avenue.

The 24-year-old driver was in stable condition and in custody at a local hospital. He had a gun and drugs in his possession, the sheriff's office said.

The driver of the second vehicle that was struck was not injured, the sheriff's office said.
