WNC Week 11 high school girls soccer power rankings: There's a new No. 1

The final regular-season week of the North Carolina high school girls soccer power rankings has arrived. The NCHSAA playoffs begin next week.

Here are the WNC high school girls soccer power rankings for Week 11.

1. Asheville High (13-3-2)

The Cougars take over the top spot after knocking off previously unbeaten West Henderson with senior forward Lily Foo scoring the winning goal. That gives Asheville High momentum as it surges toward the playoffs.

Last week: No. 2. This week: vs. North Buncombe (Monday), vs. Enka (Wednesday)

2. West Henderson (17-1)

The Falcons came up three games shy of a perfect regular season when they lost to top-seeded Asheville High last week.

Last week: No. 1. This week: at Franklin (Monday), vs. Tuscola (Wednesday)

3. Roberson (12-5)

Roberson has won four straight since falling to Ardrey Kell. The Rams also stunned No. 1 Asheville High, 3-2. Shayne Pratt, Sarah Freeman and Aria Giles all scored a goal in the win.

Last week: No. 4. This week: at No. 8 Reynolds (Monday)

4. Hendersonville (12-2-1)

Brevard ended Hendersonville's win streak at 12 matches with a 2-2 draw last week.

Last week: No. 3. This week: at Patton (Tuesday)

5. Brevard (17-1-2)

The Blue Devils scored twice after being shut out by No. 4 Hendersonville the first time around. Sophomore Nora Felty and freshman Charley Goodwin scored the goals.

Last week: No. 5. This week: at No. 9 Polk County (Tuesday)

6. Asheville Christian Academy (8-4-1)

After a sluggish start to the season, the Lions are peaking at the right time. They have won four in a row with their most impressive win coming against Reynolds last week. Forward Holly Lanter had the winning goal.

Last week: No. 10. This week: Open

7. Madison (14-1-1)

The Patriots had won six in a row before North Buncombe knocked them off 2-0 last week.

Last week: No. 7. This week: vs. Owen (Monday), at Enka (Thursday)

8. Reynolds (15-5)

Reynolds has lost two out of its past three matches after winning five in a row. The losses have come against No. 1 Asheville High and No. 6 Asheville Christian Academy.

Last week: No. 6. This week: vs. No. 3 Roberson (Monday), vs. McDowell (Wednesday)

9. Polk County (10-4-3)

Polk County takes a three-game win streak into its regular-season finale against No. 5 Brevard. The Wolverines fell 4-1 to the Blue Devils on April 11.

Last week: No. 8. This week: vs. No. 5 Brevard (Tuesday)

10. Murphy (11-3-1)

Murphy enters the top 10 after earning a 1-1 draw with Swain County last week. Before the tie, the Bulldogs had won four straight. They are led by senior striker Lailee Holloway, who has scored 32 goals this year.
