WNBA draft 2024: Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers among players for Indiana Fever to consider

Since the Indiana Fever's first WNBA season in 2000, the franchise has had the No. 1 pick just once.

That came last year when the Fever selected Aliyah Boston. Now, the Fever get to do it again. On Sunday, the Fever cashed in the best odds (44.2%) to win the WNBA draft lottery for the second year running.

Here is who Indiana may take with their first pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Caitlin Clark, guard, Iowa

This one is easy. Caitlin Clark is a senior, but she does have a year left of eligibility after the 2023-24 season. If she declares for the 2024 WNBA draft, she'll be a heavy favorite to go first overall.

Clark is already Iowa's all-time leading scorer and is the only player, man or woman, to record over 3,000 points, over 750 rebounds and over 750 assists in Division I history.

The West Des Moines native played immediately for the Hawkeyes as a freshman and has averaged 27.4 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds throughout her career at Iowa.

Paige Bueckers, guard, UConn

Coming out of high school as the No. 1 recruit, Bueckers started her college basketball career with a bang at Connecticut. In 2020-21, she started all 29 games and became the first freshman to win the Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy, AP Player of the Year and USBWA Player of the Year.

Since then, injuries have played a part in her college career. Bueckers missed 19 games due to a knee injury in 2021-22. Then in August 2022, she suffered an ACL injury, which caused her to miss the entire 2022-23 season.

Through 50 games played (46 starts), Bueckers has averaged 17.8 points, 5 assists and 4.6 rebounds. Like Clark, she can return to UConn after the 2023-24 season.

Cameron Brink, forward, Stanford

A senior forward from Oregon, Brink is eligible to return to school in 2024-25. Brink was part of a Stanford squad that won the 2021 NCAA title. She is on every major award watchlist she is eligible for this season and has already been named Pac-12 Player of the Week twice. Against IU earlier this season, she scored 20 points (including two 3s), pulled down 17 rebounds and blocked four shots in a 96-64 Cardinal win.

At Stanford, Brink has put up 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3 blocks per game.

Aaliyah Edwards, forward, UConn

Aaliyah Edwards, like the others listed so far, can return after this season if she so chooses. But if she chooses to enter the draft, she could go in the top five picks.

Edwards is a 6-3 senior forward who hails from Ontario. When Bueckers went down with a season-ending knee injury before last season began, Edwards became UConn's go-to player, starting all 37 games. That season, Edwards averaged 16.6 points and 9.1 rebounds.

Rickea Jackson, forward, Tennessee

Rickea Jackson is the only player on this list who does not have eligibility after this season. The 6-2 forward played three seasons at Mississippi State before transferring to Tennessee before the 2022-23 season. She returned this season by taking advantage of the NCAA's COVID exemption.

Jackson has started 84 of the 104 college basketball games she has played in. In that time, she has averaged 17.3 points and 5.7 rebounds.
