The first trailer for the thriller film T.I.M., starring The Witcher's Eamon Farren and Black Mirror's Georgina Campbell, has landed ahead of its Netflix release on August 16.

T.I.M. stands for "Technologically. Integrated. Manservant" — and if you're already worried about the dangers of A.I., this movie might not be for you.

Campbell stars as robotics engineer scientist Abi, who moves to the Cambridgeshire countryside with her cheating husband Paul (Mark Rowley). Abi is thrilled when her work offers her the prototype T.I.M. (Farren) to help make her new life easier.

However, as the trailer shows, things get dark quickly, as T.I.M. takes a disturbing interest in the couple's relationship and begins paying special attention to Abi.

As T.I.M.'s obsession with Abi grows, the couple's lives are put in danger as their once-friendly manservant plots to take Paul's place.

The film also stars Amara Karan (The Night Of), Nathaniel Parker (The Last Duel) and Tom Bell.

Netflix's official synopsis of the film reads: "T.I.M. delves into our fear of A.I. — tech companies racing ahead, wanting to be first to market, when even they admit they don't know exactly what they’re unleashing on the world. And whether it will destroy us."

T.I.M. is the directorial debut of comedian turned writer-director Spencer Brown, who co-wrote the script with his wife, author Sarah Govett.

Speaking about the film last October, Brown said: "It's been a privilege to have such an incredible cast for my first movie — Georgina lights up the screen with her amazing presence and subtlety, Mark wins our hearts with his humour, depth and humanity and Eamon completes the central trio with a brilliant AI performance that showcases his truly world-class talent."

"Stigma Films have been incredible in helping me bring this film to the screen, and I'm so happy to be working with Altitude to take this movie out into the world. I hope it's something that will still be watched when people have house robots of their own!"

T.I.M. lands on Netflix on August 16. Black Mirror seasons 1-6 are available to stream on Netflix now.
