Wisconsin man arrested in kidnapping of Simpsonville teen indicted by federal grand jury

A man arrested for kidnapping a 13-year-old Simpsonville girl has been indicted by a federal grand jury.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Tyler Micheal Berlick, 35, of Muskego, Wis. was indicted on three counts of traveling across state lines with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor, transporting a minor across state lines with the intent to engage in sexual conduct, and production of child sexual abuse materials.

The indictment comes after deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department in Florida arrested Berlick on Feb. 12 in connection with the kidnapping of the minor.

Berlick will be arraigned at 10 a.m. Thursday before Magistrate Judge Kevin McDonald. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. Assistant U.S. Attorney Winston Marosek will prosecute the case.

According to the indictment, Berlick met the child on the online game Roblox and knew the child’s age. The Greenville News is not naming the 13-year-old victim. Berlick is alleged to have driven from Wisconsin to South Carolina intending to engage in sexual activity with the minor and traveled with them to Florida also with the same intent.
