Winstead’s near KC’s Country Club Plaza temporarily closes for health code violation

Tuesday’s downpour caused problems Wednesday for the flagship Winstead’s restaurant near the Country Club Plaza.

The restaurant, at 101 Emmanuel Cleaver II Blvd., had nine critical violations during an inspection by the Kansas City Health Department and had to temporarily close when the roof was leaking in the front food prep area.

A manager said she hoped to have the roof repaired so the restaurant could reopen by the weekend. It will have to pass a reinspection by the health department first.

Winstead’s, known for its burgers and malts, was founded around 1940. It also has an Overland Park location.
