While all eyes are focused on the billion dollar-plus prize up for grabs in the Mega Millions game, the Powerball jackpot is currently in the nine-digit range.

While nobody captured the top prize in the most recent Powerball drawing, someone purchased a ticket with a significant payout at a grocery store in Richland County.

A $50,000 winning ticket was sold in Columbia, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said in a news release.

The winning Powerball game was bought at the Kroger grocery store at 1028 Robert Branch Parkway, according to the release. That’s near the intersection of Killian Road and Farrow Road.

The ticket matched four of the five white balls, along with the red Powerball number in Wednesday’s drawing, according to the release.

The winning numbers from the drawing were 4, 8, 46, 47, 48 and Powerball: 5.

The winner has 180 days to claim the prize, according to lottery officials.

The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Kansas, Georgia, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

The odds of winning $50,000 playing Powerball are 913,129-to-1, according to the release.

“Sign the back of your ticket and put it in a safe location until you’re ready to come forward to claim the prize,” lottery officials said.

The Kroger will receive a commission of $500 for selling the winning ticket when it is turned into lottery officials.

In addition to the five-figure jackpot, lottery officials said more than 17,000 ticket holders in South Carolina won prizes following Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.

The next Powerball drawing will be held Saturday, when the jackpot is estimated to be $404 million.
