Rock the Block is back on HGTV, and all of the returning contestants are looking for redemption. Season 5 got out to a hot start in Treasure Island, Florida, with the four teams taking on one of the most important rooms in the house: The kitchen.

HGTV fans will recognize the competitors: Bryan and Sarah Baeumler (Renovation Island), Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas (Bargain Block), Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis (Unsellable Houses), and Page Turner and Mitch Glew (Fix My Flip) gave their identical spaces a new look showcasing their design styles. The teams were surprised with an unexpected twist: Host Ty Pennington announced that the kitchen and dining areas are a blank slate with no walls to demo, so they have complete control over the final layout.

Season 3 champions Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson (Married to Real Estate) stepped in to judge the spaces. Lindsey and Leslie went with a tropical retreat style, mixing greens and woods, reminding Egypt of a trip to Bali, but she struggled with some of the functionality and symmetry. Keith and Evan were praised for their artistry and color choices, but the judges were concerned about the lack of pantry. Bryan and Sarah received high marks for their craftsmanship and design, but it was a bit "taste-specific," plus the home lacked a dedicated dining space. Egypt called Page and Mitch's kitchen "a vacation in Tulum," and Mike loved the grocery lift.

Egypt and Mike ultimately awarded the victory to Page and Mitch for adding the most value to their home with the renovation. Page was emotional when the announcement was made, saying she felt like they were "robbed" when their kitchen didn't win on their previous season. The duo will have $1,000 to add to their budget for the next challenge.

HGTV shared a photo of the winning space and viewers took the opportunity to sound off in the comments section. They left messages like:

  • "Keith and Evan’s place was the coolest. They brought class. The others were typical."

  • "🔥🔥Team Page & Mitch!"

  • "❤🙌 looks so clean and sleek!"

  • "I didn’t LOVE any of them. That spice rack behind the cooktop was ridiculous! And I’m over wine walls."

  • "Page played it safe."

  • "Clearly Bryan & Sarah had the best design & brilliant elevator. Get with the times their attached dining table was smart!"

  • "Congratulations @mitchglew and @pageturnerunlimited THE absolute best kitchen hands down."

Egypt dropped in the comments section to explain her reasoning. She wrote, "My personal fave was Keith and Evan as it’s the one I would live in today. But our job was to figure out who added most value and would appraise higher...Page and Mitch did a great job adding value, lift, walk in pantry, kept the dining room, which makes the overall house feel larger, and had straight shot views to the water with a panoramic window that opens to an indoor/outdoor bar. Hard to argue with that!"

Page shared some behind the scenes notes on her Instagram account and took time to thank everyone who helped with the design. She said, "This is truly some of the hardest work I've done -In fact, I think having my 7.2 & 7.11 pound twins at 40.5 weeks naturally was easier!🤣"

Up next, the teams will take on the living rooms, with 100 Day Dream Home's Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt judging their work. Tune in to HGTV on March 11 to see who wins, or stream on Max.
