April 15 to April 21, Nyack Feasts

Nyack's fourth annual celebration includes 30 restaurants and 24 merchants featuring special prices as well as, in some cases, free items to accompany orders. The village is known for its restaurant scene spanning flavors from Thai, Filipino, Ukrainian, Greek, Mexican, Vietnamese, Himalayan, Peruvian, American Southern and Continental.

Among the participating restaurants are Brassiere D, The Breakfast & Burger Club, The Farm at Hotel Nyack, Dolce Vita, DPNB Pasta & Provisions, Casa del Sol, Karenderya, Maura's Kitchen, Nyack Social and My Father's House Southern Cuisine.

"Variety is the spice of Nyack," said event organizer Mark Davidoff, director of Rockland Community College Hospitality & Culinary Arts Center. "Our community is all about creativity, multi-cultural cuisines and a wide variety of merchants providing extraordinary products and services. By allowing something other than the standard prix fixe menu for a restaurant week, each participating establishment crafts its own offer enabling us to celebrate the diversity of Nyack’s restaurants, storefronts and its population."

This year’s theme, “Produce Change,” will highlight the need to raise funds to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, essential to good health and overall well-being. More than 40% of the food distributed by Feeding Westchester is fresh produce. To accommodate the increasing demand for and need to supply more of these items, Feeding Westchester plans to double the size of the cooler space in its food distribution center this year.

April 20, Wing Walk, White Plains

Are you Team Buffalo? Or do you prefer your wings with spicy basil, sweet and sour bourbon, Thai peanut or Korean barbecue? You'll get your chance to sample a wide variety of these and more at the fifth annual White Plains Wing Walk, sponsored by the White Plains Business Improvement District (BID) and the City of White Plains. The event, which should dole out approximately 16,000 wings, will be held from noon to 5 p.m. April 20.

Past Wing Walk winners include Lazy Boy Saloon (2019), Alex Lounge (2021), Delicias Del Jireh (2022), and Alex Lounge (2023) so the pressure is on for who will win this year.

Participating restaurants include Alex Lounge Bar & Grill, Archie Grand, Asopao Cuisine, The Brazen Fox, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cantina Taco & Tequila Bar, Delicias del Jireh, Freebird Kitchen and Bar, Hudson Grille, Lazy Boy Saloon, Lilly’s, Mario’s Pizza, The Melting Pot, Ron Blacks Beer Hall, Sundance Kitchen & Cantina, Tepe’s Kitchen, TVB by Pax Romana and Wolf & Warrior Brewing Company.

Attendees with a Wing Walk bracelet are permitted to try two wings from every establishment in two and a half hour rounds and to vote for their favorite via a public ballot. Bracelet holders will also receive a voucher for six additional wings at a participant restaurant of their choice. The vouchers can be redeemed in the six days after the event, between April 21 and April 26.

To add some festive "feathers" to the event, the BID has added on-site entertainment with live acoustic music by guitarist Gerald Edward and The Slide Stops. Also, Chuck the Chicken (Wing Walk’s mascot) will be present for selfies. Additionally, chicken cornhole, life-sized connect four and several other “backyard” games will be present on street corners to add some “zest to the nest."

Tickets are $25 for general admission and $15 for children five to 10. Children under five are free. Online ticket sales end April 19 at 11:59 pm. Visit wpbid.com/wingwalk for more information.
