Right-wing pundit Tomi Lahren thinks quarantine is like slavery

Those still taking their marching orders from Fox News correspondents during the coronavirus pandemic learned Monday that social distancing looks like “willful slavery" to Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren.

Lahren’s absurd tweet making that claim was taken offline, but not before the Daily Beast took a screenshot.

“Compliance starting to look a whole lot like willful slavery,” the tweet read.

Many Twitter commenters wondered if Lahren understood the concept of slavery and pointed out that by definition it can’t be “willful.”

According to PBS, slavery in the “New World” began in 1619, extended through the founding of the United States in 1776 and ended in 1866 after being abolished by the 13th amendment following the Civil War.

Lahren, a host on the Fox Nation streaming service, has also appeared on the right-wing cable channel as a contributor. She has also been critical of the Black Lives Matter movement and controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The fast-talking 27-year-old pundit has a reputation for letting her words outpace her thoughts. During a 2016 visit to “The Daily Show,” she infamously stunned host Trevor Noah by stating “I’m a millennial so I don’t really like labels.”

Fox News’ coverage of the pandemic, which has included numerous misstatements from TV medical pundits, has been panned by journalism professionals who have specifically target network star and President Trump cheerleader Sean Hannity.

Earlier this month, 74 scholars and working professional signed a letter blasting his reports as irresponsible.

Fox News started its morning on Trump’s bad side after the president, whose television commentary on the pandemic has also been characterized as counterproductive, complained the network was distancing itself from Fox Nation coronavirus skeptics Diamond and Silk.

“But I love Diamond & Silk, and so do millions of people!” the president tweeted.
