Here are the Wilmington area high school sports top performers for April 21-27

We're halfway through the final full week of high school sports in April, and the big performances are rolling in.

As most spring sports enter the final weeks of play, Mideastern Conference baseball continues to excite. On Tuesday, West Brunswick earned a win over Ashley, while Topsail fell to South Brunswick. The Pirates still hold the conference's top spot.

In softball, Topsail fell to South Brunswick for the second time this season, keeping the team tied for second with the Cougars.

Here are the best performances from around the Wilmington area for the week of April 21-27.

Tuesday

Baseball

Jason Sproull, Soph., Laney: The Buccaneers pitcher threw eight strikeouts in 5 ⅓ innings, helping Laney to a 5-2 upset of Hoggard.

Aydean White, Jr., North Brunswick: White recorded three RBIs as the Scorpions defeated New Hanover 9-3.

Jaden Marvin, Sr., South Brunswick: Marvin went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a double as the Cougars defeated Topsail 9-2.

Evan Coartney, Sr., South Brunswick: Coartney threw 10 strikeouts in 6 ⅓ innings on the mound in the victory.

Softball

Layla Carr, Jr., Laney: Carr's second-inning homer scored three runs and helped the Bucs cruise past Hoggard 8-3.

Shanley Hunt, Jr., North Brunswick: Hunt recorded five RBIs and a double as the Scorpions cruised past New Hanover 15-0.

Gracie Christianson, Sr., North Brunswick: The senior scored two runs as she hit the game's only home run.

Jamiah Johnson, Sr., Pender: Johnson went 4-for-5 with four RBIs as the Patriots defeated West Columbus 16-3.

Kina Davis, Jr., South Brunswick: Davis threw 13 strikeouts as the Cougars earned a critical bounce-back 2-0 victory over Topsail.

Girls soccer

Ellis Kelly, Jr., Hoggard: Kelly scored four times as the Vikings defeated West Brunswick 8-0.

Laney Parker, Jr., Laney: Parker scored two goals as the Bucs defeated North Brunswick 9-0.

Olivia Duleba, Jr., Laney: The junior scored twice in the win.

Jasmine Hicks, Soph., Laney: The sophomore assisted on three goals in the win.

Boys lacrosse

Cooper Wert, Jr., Ashley: Wert scored four goals and added one assist as the Screaming Eagles defeated South Brunswick 16-4.

Ethan Tribble, Soph., Ashley: Tribble scored four times in the win.

Anthony Blackburn, Jr., Ashley: Blackburn found the back of the net twice and dished out three assists in the win.

Josiah Capps, Sr., Laney: Capps scored four goals as Laney defeated North Brunswick 19-1.

James Nix, Soph., Laney: Nix scored three times, adding one assist in the win.

Carter Warlick, Sr., Laney: Warlick netted two goals while providing five assists in the win.

Zion Lee, Sr., Topsail: Lee scored three goals as Topsail defeated New Hanover 18-0.

Connor Hinson, Sr., Topsail: The senior scored twice and provided two assists in the win.

Girls lacrosse

Lillian Austin, Sr., Topsail: Austin scored seven goals as the Pirates sailed past New Hanover 19-4.

Boys tennis

Augie Ballantine, Sr., New Hanover: Ballantine went 6-0 in both his matches at No. 1 singles to help the Wildcats defeat Hoggard 5-4.

Jack Teeter, Sr., Topsail: Teeter earned two victories at No. 1 singles to help Topsail defeat Laney 9-0.

Monday

Boys golf

Dylan Lewis, Sr., Hoggard: Lewis shot 68 and was the medalist in Monday's MEC matchup at Cape Fear Country Club.

Maddux Cook, Jr., Hoggard: Cook placed second at the event, shooting 70.

Girls lacrosse

Addison McGarth, Jr., Hoggard: McGarth scored four times as Hoggard defeated South Brunswick 19-5.

Katherine Coble, Soph., Hoggard: Cobble scored four times and added one assist in the win.
