Williamson Scout troops and Christ Community Church break ground on new meeting area

Williamson County Boy Scout Troops 13 and 15, along with Crew 113 and Cub Pack 14, have broken ground on a new facility that will allow for an outdoor meeting area for the organization.

The troops were joined by staff from Christ Community Church last month for the groundbreaking of the new Scout Barn.

“We can’t thank Christ Community enough for their partnership on this project and support of Scouting year-round,” Scoutmaster Chris Wall of Troop 13 said.

Established in 1998, Troop 13 is comprised mostly of Williamson County members and a few who live in Nashville. The 70-member troop welcomed the county’s first Scouts BSA female troop in February 2019.

“Today’s groundbreaking is the start of a long-term vision we have to establish a permanent resource that will serve the youth of our community for years to come,” Wall said.

The 3,600 square foot facility will be located on the church’s property by the community gardens.

This space was designated due to Christ Community Church’s dedication to helping the area Scout troops. The church has hosted a variety of Scouting programs, including family Scouting with Cub Scouts (kindergarten-fifth grade), and Scout Troops and Venture Crew (ages 14-21).

Once the primary structure is complete, a second phase is planned to include an enclosed storage area to allow for easier access to outdoor gear.
