Wife of Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer, who’s on leave from the band, dead at 55

The wife of Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer reportedly died last week while the musician was taking a break from the band.

People reports that Linda Kramer died on June 22, but didn’t list a cause of death. She was 55.

Kramer, who’s been with Aerosmith since the band was formed in 1970, said in March that he would be taking time away from the “Permanent Vacation” rockers to spend time with family during what he called “uncertain times” in a statement.

The pair married in 2009.

Aerosmith was preparing to resume a Las Vegas residency when Kramer announced his “temporary” leave. That ill-fated string of shows, set to begin in June, was further delayed when singer Steven Tyler stepped away from the band to work on his “well being” after relapsing into drug use. TMZ reported Friday that Tyler checked out of a rehab facility this week following a successful stay and is excited to get back to performing.

Kramer sued his bandmates in 2020 when they claimed the Bronx native was not “emotionally and physically able to perform with the band” for a Grammy Awards performance while trying to bounce back from a shoulder injury. Weeks after that show, Aerosmith and Kramer were back in harmony.

The band’s Twitter feed wished Kramer a happy 72nd birthday on June 21 — one day before Linda Kramer died. People repots that she was a former Hewlett-Packard employee described in her obituary as a fan of fast cars and Hallmark Christmas movies, who possessed “a wicked, mischievous sense of humor.”
