Wichita’s newest burger-and-beer restaurant is open now. See the full menu.

The long wait is over for Sickies Garage in Wichita. The restaurant, promised last summer, opened Monday serving extreme burger creations, a big selection of beer, boozy milkshakes and more.

Part of a North Dakota-based chain that has 12 restaurants across the country, Wichita’s new Sickies Garage is at 2424 N. Maize Road, in the building that Logan’s Roadhouse occupied for 15 years before closing in May 2022.

Crews have spent months remodeling the building and filling it with auto garage-themed decor, including a full-size, rusted-out old pickup truck hanging upside down from the ceiling.

Wichita will be greeted by a menu that offers the restaurant’s signature “50 Burgers, 50 Brews” menu. And many of the burgers are piled-high monsters topped with things like peanut butter, mac and cheese and deep-fried cheese curds. One’s even served with glazed doughnut replacing the bun. The menu also includes less-crazy classic burgers, wings with 21 different sauce choices, sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, salads and fried fish or shrimp baskets. It also includes a selection of shakes and malts, including some that are spiked with alcohol.

At the bar, the list of 50 beers available includes a few made by Sickies Garage as well as local choices from Wichita Brewing Company and Walnut River. Bar customers can get craft beers, domestic beers and hard seltzers.

Sickies Garage also offers several daily specials and discounts. For one, members of the military and first responders always get a 20 percent discount on regular-priced menu items. The restaurant offers a happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close Sundays through Fridays — and from 9 p.m. to close Saturdays — when it discounts beer and wine and offers $5 appetizers from a special menu. Also, from 9 p.m. to close on Fridays and Saturdays, customers can get all-you-can-eat traditional wings and fries for $17.99.

Sickies was started in Fargo, North Dakota, in 2012 by a group of guys that would get together to work on their motorcycles and cars. Eventually, they started making burgers at their meetings, with the members always one-upping each other with new levels of burger insanity.

The group adopted the term “sickie,” which is often used to describe a person who calls into sick work to hang out at a bar.

The restaurant’s hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays; 10 a.m. to midnight Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays.
