Why Sophie Turner Skipped the 2024 Met Gala

Sophie Turner didn’t use this year’s Met Gala to make her first major red carpet appearance since she and Joe Jonas announced their divorce in September.

Turner has generally stayed out of the public eye this year, so it’s understandable that she decided to avoid New York’s biggest fashion event. Turner is booked and busy at work though; her new project, the psychological thriller Trust, was announced in late March. Per Deadline, Turner will play a “Hollywood starlet who seeks refuge in a secluded Airbnb following a high-profile scandal, only to find herself at the mercy of hardened criminals on the hunt for a score.” The outlet reported that production on Trust would begin in Mexico later that month.

Turner made her last big appearance at Louis Vuitton’s Paris show that same month, dressed in high-waisted striped pants and a two-tone, off-the-shoulder top. She congratulated Louis Vuitton women’s artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière, on his 10 years helming the fashion house on Instagram.

“Nicolas, to have had the privilege of watching your work from the front row for 8 out of your 10 years at Louis Vuitton has been one of the biggest honors of my life,” she wrote. “Not only to watch the innovation, the boldness, and the intricacy of your designs but to also be welcomed into a loving, fun fashion family that is led by you has given me more than you can imagine. Thank you for everything Nicolas. We love you 💜”
