Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Aren't at Trooping the Colour This Year
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won't be at the first Trooping the Colour of King Charles's reign today; Town & Country understands that they were not invited to attend. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will remain at their home in Montecito, California.
At last year's Trooping the Colour, Meghan and Harry were in London for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Sussexes were spotted watching Trooping from the Major General's Office with other non-working members of the British royal family, including Zara Tindall's daughters Mia Tindall and Lena Tindall, and Peter Phillips's daughters Savannah Phillips and Isla Phillips. They did not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony last year.
The last time the Sussexes participated in the parade was in 2019, when Meghan debuted a redesigned engagement ring shortly after giving birth to Prince Archie. The 2018 Trooping the Colour occurred shortly after Meghan and Harry's royal wedding, and for her Trooping debut, she wore a blush Carolina Herrera dress.
Prince Harry was in London earlier this month to testify in his lawsuit against the Mirror Group Newspapers. In his testimony, Harry said he is bringing this suit to end the "absolute intrusion and hate that was coming towards me and my wife and see if there was any way to find a different course of action, rather than relying on the institution's way."
In May, Harry also traveled to London solo to attend his father King Charles's coronation. The last time Meghan was in the UK was in September 2022, for Queen Elizabeth's funeral.
