Why Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin donned a Georgia Bulldogs shirt this week

The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for a Sunday matchup with the Green Bay Packers, but their coach made sure to share a special moment with a standout athlete in a different sport.

Mike Tomlin donned a black Georgia Bulldogs shirt with a “G” on it as his daughter Harley signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to compete for the Bulldogs gymnastics team, he posted on his personal Instagram account. She committed in October of 2022.

Harley Tomlin watched Georgia football’s win over Kent State during her official visit when she was accompanied by her mother, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Mike Tomlin has been a regular visitor to Athens in March for Georgia’s Pro Day workouts for NFL prospects.

The Steelers current roster includes former Georgia wide receiver George Pickens, offensive lineman Broderick Jones and tight end Darnell Washington.

Harley is a four-star rated recruit who was the 2023 Region 7 AA champion and 2022 bronze beam medalist, according to College Gym News Recruiting.

She was one of three signees announced by the program Wednesday.

“As soon as I stepped on campus I knew that I wanted to spend my college career in Athens,” she said in a Georgia gymnastics post on X (formerly Twitter) “The sense of pride & team atmosphere is amazing & I knew that I couldn’t wait to be a part of such a prestigious team!”
